Whats the best knife? For protection, hunting, handy use, etc.
I carry a Soligen made hunting knife with a 5 7/8 inch blade. My dad got it for me on my 21st birth day. It had a stag horn handle I had to replace it with a rosewood handle after about 4 years of sea duty as a Coast Guard Boarding Officer. The stag handle did not hold up well. The blade is still perfect and still holds an edge that has to be experienced to be believed. I cut a 4 in double braided samson tow line with a single stroke when we were tangled in one of the storms in 1978.
I still carry it most of the time.
